Livorno boss Davide Nicola has admitted he is looking forward to facing former club Genoa this weekend.

The Amaranto have started the season in impressive fashion – winning two of their first three games, but go to the Marassi on Saturday facing a Grifone full of confidence after their derby win last weekend.

The Coach though, who spent 10 seasons in the north-west has conceded it will be nice to go back, whilst also remarking on Innocent Emeghara’s fitness.

“I spent 10 years at Genoa,” he told reporters. Three in the youth teams and seven in the first team.

“It’s going to be exciting to go back. It is the sort of place that rewards its former players.

“The medical investigations have shown that Emeghara has no injury.

“He’s trained well with the group and looks to be okay.”
