“I am very excited to see our fans providing the backdrop to this match,” said Nicola in his Press conference.

“We will certainly give everything we’ve got to make them proud. In the last two games, the team proved it is adapting quickly to the top flight.

“Napoli are an excellent side, but have lost their last three competitive outings. It’s a wonderful test for us that can give the motivation we need to really step up. We need to be perfect and we’ll try to achieve it.”

The Sharks have just one point from eight Serie A games, a 1-1 draw with Palermo, but were only narrowly beaten 2-1 by Cagliari and had taken the lead at Sassuolo before a late comeback.

“Crotone haven’t won yet, it’s true, but in my view so far we haven’t been dominated the way a classic newcomer can be. Above all in the last three rounds we found the confidence we can be dangerous.”

Nicola resisted calls to drop goalkeeper Alex Cordaz.

“He is one of the players with the most character and fits in best with my way of thinking. He is often under intense pressure back there and has regularly rescued us.

“I have to say in certain situations, he was not best served by the rest of the team. We must all do better to ensure our opponents get fewer shots on target.”
