The Calabrese club came to Turin looking only to defend and it worked for almost an hour, even though Juve had 81 per cent possession, but Mario Mandzukic, Mattia De Sciglio and Medhi Benatia eventually grabbed a 3-0 win.

“Games last for 90 minutes and it’s never easy to play with that much focus and concentration throughout,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“We always faced Juve in a different way, but today we didn’t counter-attack with the right sharpness. We gave all we had in the circumstances. Games like this help us realise we must always be very organised.

“I needed some particular work done today and Aleksandar Tonev would be useful when attacking the space.”

Crotone escaped relegation on the final day last season, so will it be easier for them this time around?

“No, as a club at our level must always wipe the slate clean and start again. We are making certain choices that we hope will pay off, even if they take time to develop. We’re glad to already have 12 points under our belts.”
