Napoli are in negotiations for a new Piotr Zielinski contract that would remove the €65m release clause and double his salary.

The Poland international midfielder’s current deal ties him to the Stadio San Paolo until June 2021, earning just over €1m per year.

According to CalcioNapoli24, talks with his entourage are currently on-going to extend it to 2023 with salary doubled to €2.2m net per year, plus bonuses to reach a total of €2.5m.

Above all, the new contract would remove the €65m release clause – valid only for clubs outside of Italy – but Zielinski’s entourage are after €2.8m including bonuses.

Napoli hope to get the paperwork signed before the 2018 World Cup, as they fear Zielinski’s profile could rise with Poland.

So far this season, the 23-year-old has contributed seven goals and three assists in 46 competitive games, many of them off the bench.
