Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola admits his client is on the verge of signing a new contract with Juventus, but has warned ‘negotiations aren’t over yet’.

The 21-year-old had been increasingly linked with a move away from Turin heading into the summer transfer window, with speculation of interest from Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, as well as clubs in the English Premier League.

However, after entering into talks with Juve on a new contract, reports yesterday indicated that Pogba was ready to put pen to paper on a new deal with the Old Lady running until 2019.

After a reported meeting with the France international and Beppe Marotta to ratify this deal yesterday afternoon, the player’s agent Raiola has confirmed a deal is close.

“Yes, we met with Marotta and together we decided to renew Paul’s contract,” Raiola has told Tuttosport.

“Now is the time to do it, we’re happy that this situation has come about.”

Raiola, who also represents Mario Balotelli and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, also cautioned that while Pogba is happy to remain at Juventus, a deal has not yet been signed.

“The negotiations are not over yet.

“Knowing me they could last a long time, because I always want to do things right. But with Pogba and Juventus slowly we will get there.

“We will meet again soon, the relationship between us and Juventus continues to be excellent. There is mutual satisfaction, we want to continue together.”

Tuttosport speculates that potential sticking points could be Raiola’s desire for yearly rises in wages and bonuses, and a release clause should other clubs come knocking.
