Alessandro Diamanti may be rewarded for his loyalty to Bologna with a new contract at the Stadio Dall’Ara.

The Italian international has been targeted by a number of clubs this summer, but the Rossoblu have resisted all offers so far.

“Diamanti is liked by a lot of teams,” Bologna director general Roberto Zanzi told Radio CRC this week. “He has an important dimension as a player, he’s an Italian international too.

“We made it clear to him that we wanted to keep him and he has given us a helping hand in that regard.

“He is an extraordinary player and it has been some years since we have had someone like him in a Bologna shirt.”

According to the Corriere dello Sport, the player’s agent Luca Puccinelli was at the club’s HQ on Thursday.

It is subsequently being suggested that his presence there was probably to get his client a new improved contract.

The 30-year-old, who joined Bologna from Brescia in 2011, is currently tied to the outfit until June 2017.
