Neto had already been struggling after he was diagnosed with the fracture of a phalange in his left hand.
He played the Coppa Italia Final on Saturday with a protective cast, but has been left out of the squad to face Sassuolo because medics fear the situation could deteriorate.
Marvin Compper, Mario Gomez and Ante Rebic are also ruled out, but Giuseppe Rossi is looking for a spot in the starting XI.
He already made his comeback in the second half of the Coppa Italia Final on Saturday, his first game since damaging knee ligaments on January 4.
