Current Nerazzurro boss and former City manager Roberto Mancini has already reportedly expressed an interest in the 21-year old as an alternative to Nemanja Vidic, who is also rumoured to depart the Nerazzurri in January.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, Nastasic may be motivated to change teams because of the limited consideration given to him by current manager Manuel Pellegrini, who sees him as the fourth central defender after Vincent Kompany, Martin Demichelis and Eliaquim Mangala.

The Rome publication assert that all parties are likely to favour an initial loan deal until the end of the season, with the situation then revisited in the summer.

It is also believed that any operation would also accelerate the departure of Vidic.
