“I am very happy with the coach. We are thinking of the present and the future, we’re in three tournaments, so are content with what he has been doing,” the director of sport told DAZN.
Giuntoli was asked about negotiations for a new Mertens contract, seeing as his current agreement expires in June.
“We are talking to Dries’ entourage, we hope for the best. He has given this club a great deal, so whatever decision he makes is fine.
“We’re talking to his people, this is his home. If he decides to stay, we’ll be very happy, and if he decides to leave, we’ll salute him.”
