Genoa’s sporting director confirms “Napoli are certainly interested” in Christian Kouamé, but “no-one will leave in January”.

The Partenopei have been linked with the 21-year-old defender, as well as striker Krzysztof Piątek, and Mario Donatelli went on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli to give an update on the situation.

“No-one will leave in January,” the Grifone sporting director insisted.

“I’m referring to [Cristian] Romero, Kouamé and Piatek, they are players who will stay until June.

“No-one will leave in January,” the Grifone sporting director insisted.

“Napoli are certainly interested [in Kouamé], but there are other clubs too and the club’s intention is to keep the lad until June.

“When people negotiate, more than one person has to agree. Genoa and Napoli are in contact, we’ll see what happens.

“The two Presidents have spoken, and the relationship between them is excellent. They’re the owners and they’ll decide.

“If two or three clubs are interested in a player at the same time then it’s normal that the price will rise, it’s always about supply and demand.

“Our players are in the shop window, and if someone wants them then we’re ready to talk. If not, we’ll keep them.

“Kouamé started working with humility and the desire to improve, then his qualities came through. He’s a sunny lad, quiet and down to earth.”
