Napoli have been in quarantine for a week now and while Dries Mertens jokes about spending their time getting ripped, Gennaro Gattuso is working on tactics.

The Partenopei were ordered to self-isolate in a group after positive COVID-19 tests for Piotr Zielinski and Eljif Elmas, but none of the others have so far been diagnosed.

According to Sky Sport Italia, coach Gattuso has been using the time together for intensive training sessions, largely based on forming the 4-2-3-1 tactics.

So far, he has focused mainly on a 4-3-3 shape, but the 4-2-3-1 would allow Mertens, Lorenzo Insigne and Hirving Lozano to play simultaneously with Victor Osimhen.

Meanwhile, Mertens joked on Instagram that he and Kalidou Koulibaly had been using their time in the gym.

“If they keep us locked up one more week, we are changing to another sport I think!”

His teammates joined in with the fun, as Andrea Petagna insisted it was down to Photoshop and Osimhen complained he wasn’t in the picture.
