Napoli have warned their fans not to fall for “provocation,” as crowd trouble with Olympique Marseille could see them banned against Arsenal.

The supporters are on a warning from UEFA and another incident will see the Stadio San Paolo doors closed for their next home game, which is against Arsenal on December 11.

“I have a message for all the Napoli fans, of whom I am proud,” said President Aurelio De Laurentiis on Radio Kiss Kiss.

“I ask them not to fall into the provocation trap of the Marseille fans, who did not treat us well in France, but we are gentlemen and hold no grudges.

“To have the San Paolo suspended for the next game, which is against Arsenal in a decisive match, would be very serious.”

There was trouble between the sets of supporters in Marseille for the 2-1 Napoli victory, although it is reported to have begun with the hosts.

Napoli also released a statement urging their fans not to break the UEFA rules, because a ban would mean they could not attend the match with Arsenal.
