However, continued reports have been of a difficulty in the two clubs agreeing to the financial aspects of this deal, split between payment due to United for the 12 months and what proportion of the Belgian’s salary that the Vesuviani pay.

The Gazzetta dello Sport report that the difference between the two clubs in economic terms still stands at between €2m and €3m.

Even so, it is understood that all parties are working to the intention of securing a deal and that Napoli and the Red Devils remain in daily contact.
