Il Mattino reiterate that Napoli could tie up negotiations with Lyon for Maxime Gonalons by the end of today.

The two clubs saw an initial deal in January for Gonalons for a reputed fee of €15m break down at the last moment due to Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas’ last-minute intervention.

Whilst Napoli counterpart Aurelio De Laurentiis commented earlier this summer that he would not be going back in for the midfielder, speculation has since suggested otherwise.

Whilst Napoli counterpart Aurelio De Laurentiis commented earlier this summer that he would not be going back in for the midfielder, speculation has since suggested otherwise.

Reports over the weekend were that a potential €12m initial fee was close to being agreed and Il Mattino reiterate today the belief that the transfer could be concluded imminently.

It is understood that key details to this eventuality are Gonalons having apparently informed Lyon of his intention not to renew his contract with them and, Lyon’s budget deficit, reported as around €10m and having previously been described by Aulas as needing to be remedied by the end of June – today.
