The Inter striker was subject to a banner from the club’s Ultras during their match with Cagliari yesterday and the trouble continued after the match when his car was attacked.

Club President Javier Zanetti confirmed that a decision will be made today as to whether Icardi will be stripped of the captaincy over comments in his newly released autobiography.

This controversy could cause Napoli to rekindle their interest in the player after they tried to secure his services this summer.

Icardi has a €110 million release clause written into his contract but this is only valid abroad, leading to reports in today’s Corriere dello Sport stating that the Partenopei could land the player for as little as €60m.

This fee was something that the two clubs had reportedly already agreed on during the summer, before Icardi eventually went on to  agree a new contract with the Nerazzurri.
