According to Il Mattino newspaper, Napoli directors and Coach Rafa Benitez were won over by the performance of Williams at centre-back.
The 29-year-old Wales international has a contract until June 2015, so could be available for relatively cheap.
Williams would be seen as the partner to Raul Albiol next season.
