The decision was made today following the behaviour of Azzurri ultras at the team’s Coppa Italia final meeting with Fiorentina” data-scaytid=”7″>Fiorentina on Saturday.
Following the shooting of three Partenopei fans prior to the match at Stadio Olimpico, ultras inside the stadium demanded talks with Napoli captain Marek Hamsik before they allowed the match to proceed.
“The Napoli fans intended to invade the pitch had their team captain not gone to the Curva to talk to the head of the ultras,” the judge Gianpaolo Tosel announced.
“At this point, the captain Marek Hamsik was like an individual speaker, placing himself in front of the Curva Nord.
“The head of the ultras was wearing a black t-shirt displaying the words ‘Speziale Libero’ [Free Speziale]. This was in reference to the despicable murder of a servant of the State.
“At the end of the ‘talks,’ the match could begin with a 45 minute delay.”
Napoli have also been hit with a fine of €60,000 for the events that took place, but their opponents Fiorentina did not escape punishment either.
The Viola have themselves been ordered to play one match behind a closed Curva Fiesole, though it is suspended for the time being, for discriminatory chanting at the match.
They have also been issued with a €20,000 penalty.
