Napoli’s forgotten man Erwin Hoffer is set to remain on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt for a second season, according to German reports.
The Austrian striker has failed to make any impact at Napoli since his €5m arrival in 2009 and has spent the past two seasons on loan in Germany.
Hoffer was an important part of Frankfurt’s team last campaign as they earned promotion to the Bundesliga, with the 25-year-old scoring nine goals in 30 games. He previously represented Kaiserslautern on loan.
Frankfurt had an option to buy him permanently, but it now seems that a second loan deal will be agreed instead.
The striker still has two years left on his Napoli contract but, with chances restricted under Walter Mazzarri, his immediate future lies in Germany.
