Napoli strikers Victor Osimhen and Kvicha Kvaratskhelia will get a longer rest than expected, as they pulled out of international duty with Nigeria and Georgia respectively.

The Partenopei forwards were not set to participate in the 2022 World Cup, but had been scheduled to take part in some pre-tournament friendly matches.

Kvaratskhelia has already missed the last few Napoli games with a bruised back and so his withdrawal from the Georgia squad was not necessarily a surprise.

There is more confusion over what cause Osimhen to pull out of the Nigeria squad for their friendly against Portugal that is scheduled for Thursday evening.

According to The Nigerian News, it was Napoli medical staff who informed Nigeria that Osimhen was not available to play in the friendly test.

Osimhen played the full 90 minutes of Saturday’s 3-2 Serie A victory over Udinese.

He has been replaced by another Serie A player, namely Cremonese forward Cyriel Dessers.
