Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is at risk of missing out on Nigeria’s upcoming Africa Cup of Nations semi-final clash with South Africa.

The 25-year-old star forward, who has netted eight goals in 18 appearances this term for the Partenopei, has played almost every available minute for the Super Eagles in their AFCON campaign, scoring once and providing two assists across the five games.

Nigeria are now only two matches away from lifting the AFCON trophy, first needing to beat South Africa in their semi-final match on Wednesday evening before possibly facing either Ivory Coast or the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the final on February 11.

As reported by The Athletic, Osimhen did not travel with his Nigeria teammates to the city of Bouake, instead staying in Abidjan after suffering ‘abdominal discomfort’. He is being closely examined by Nigeria’s medical staff but is now at risk of missing out on the semi-final against South Africa.

The last time the Super Eagles met Bafana Bafana came in the AFCON quarterfinals in 2019, where Nigeria edged out a 2-1 win.
