Napoli have reached an agreement with Reims for the transfer of 23-year-old midfielder Jens Cajuste according to reports from Footmercato on Wednesday morning.

The Sweden international is expected to arrive at Villa Stuart in the coming hours to undergo a medical before officially putting pen to paper on his Napoli contract.

Cajuste, who turns 24 on August 10, made 31 appearances for Reims over the course of the 2022-23 Ligue 1 season, chipping in with three goals along the way. He had previously spent four seasons on the books with Midtjylland in Denmark, having joined from boyhood club Orgryte.

Il Corriere dello Sport describe Cajuste as a box-to-box player, who is physical, but also possesses good technical attributes as well.

It is believed that Cajuste will be Napoli’s replacement for Tanguy Ndombele, who returned to Tottenham following last season’s loan spell.

Napoli are also reported to be continuing in their pursuit of 21-year-old Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga, who could replace Piotr Zielinski should he leave the club this summer.
