Napoli have agreed to pay just under the €30m release clause for Villarreal midfielder Pablo Fornals, according to Mundo Deportivo.

He turns 23 next month and already has two senior caps for Spain under his belt.

Fornals would increase the Spanish contingent at the Stadio San Paolo after Raul Albiol, Jose Callejon and summer signing Fabian Ruiz.

Villarreal only signed him from Malaga for €12m in the summer of 2017, but the cost of this operation is believed to be €25m plus bonuses.

So far this season, Fornals has scored three goals and provided four assists in 29 competitive games.

This story emerges on the same day that it’s rumoured Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis will meet with PSG directors at a Paris Fashion Week event this evening.

However, Spanish paper As maintain Napoli have only shown an interest in Fornals rather than done a deal, while his agent told CalcioNapoli24.it that he has had no contacts with the Partenopei.
