Napoli have began exploring a move for Udinese teenager Simeone Pafundi ahead of the January transfer window, reports detail.
The 16-year-old Italian midfielder became a household name in the Italian peninsula after making his Azzurri debut under Roberto Mancini on Wednesday, making a cameo appearance in the dying minutes of the friendly win over Albania. Pafundi is one of the most highly-touted youngsters in Italy and looks set to grow into a top talent in the coming years.
As reported by Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Napoli have opened talks with Udinese to seriously explore a move for Pafundi ahead of the winter transfer window.
The Friulian side are not currently interested in any kind of deal, believing that the 16-year-old could soon become a starter under Andrea Sottil, but the Partenopei are refusing to give up and will make another attempt in the coming weeks.
The 16-year-old Pafundi has scored nine goals and provided 15 assists in 36 games for the Udinese Primavera squad.
