Napoli are considering a trial run for free agent Guilherme Siqueira following the latest Faouzi Ghoulam injury setback.

Left-back Ghoulam was just on the verge of making his comeback from a torn ACL when he fractured his kneecap in training.

He is expected to be back training in around a month’s time, but that still leaves the Partenopei short-staffed.

He is expected to be back training in around a month’s time, but that still leaves the Partenopei short-staffed.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the club is looking around at free agents for reinforcements now that the January transfer window has closed.

The main target is former Valencia and Atletico Madrid man Guilherme Siqueira, so the 31-year-old could be invited for a trial run at Castelvolturno.

Maurizio Sarri wants to check on his fitness levels before committing to a contract, as he hasn’t played since May 2017.

He is no stranger to Serie A, having played for Inter and Lazio at youth level, then Udinese and Ancona.

“Numerically, we are a bit tight, as we have difficulty even practicing the three positions in training,” confessed Sarri to Rai Sport.

“If there is someone among the free agents who can give us a hand, then (director of sport Cristiano) Giuntoli will find him. However, I have a few doubts that there are players ready among those who are out of contract.”
