Multiple reports from France and Italy suggest Napoli are in advanced negotiations with Olympique Marseille for Andre Ayew.

The striker impressed in the Champions League against the Partenopei this season and had already been linked with a January move, but that collapsed due to a meniscus injury that kept him out for three months.

There are now reports director of sport Riccardo Bigon travelled to Marseille this week to offer €10m for the 24-year-old.

“This rumour is true,” La Provence journalist Fabrice Lamperti told CalcioNapoli24.it.

“OM confirmed they were approached by Napoli emissaries for Andre Ayew, though at the moment no other details have emerged.

“Marseille absolutely need to recoup €7m before June 30 to wipe out their debts. At the moment there is just one concrete offer for Ayew that was not denied: Newcastle United put €7m on the table last summer.

“Andre Ayew has a contract with Marseille until June 30 2015. The club needs to sell before June 30 2014 to balance the books.

“However, Ayew had always said he’d prefer to play in the Premier League.”

A wide attacker, Ayew has great pace and scored seven goals in 27 games for Marseille this season, between Ligue 1 and Champions League.

Both his European goals were against Napoli, as OM lost 2-1 in France and 3-2 at the San Paolo with Ayew netting in both fixtures.
