Napoli have reportedly made an offer for Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira, funding it with Amadou Diawara’s sale to the Premier League.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the first proposal has been sent to Samp from the Partenopei after weeks of preliminary talks.

With Inter hindered by Financial Fair Play and delays over their Champions League status for next season, Napoli intend to swoop early.

RB Leipzig are also interested in the 22-year-old Uruguay international, who has a €25m release clause in his contract.

So far this term, Torreira has contributed four goals and one assist in 24 Serie A appearances.

It is believed Napoli will fund the Torreira move by selling Diawara to a Premier League club, where he has several offers, above all from Tottenham Hotspur.

Still only 20 years old, the Stadio San Paolo side paid €14.5m to sign Diawara from Bologna in the summer of 2016.
