The 29-year-old picked up an injury in Napoli’s 1-0 win over Real Sociedad on Thursday with Gennaro Gattuso who had to replace him in the first half.

“Lorenzo said he stopped in time and it wasn’t the same intensity of pain that he felt last time, so hopefully it’s not serious,” Gattuso said after the game.

Insigne had already picked up an injury in Napoli’s 6-0 win against Genoa in September and remained our of action for 20 days, missing three games.

According to Il Mattino, the Italian winger could suffer a thigh strain which, if confirmed, could force him out of the pitch for two or three weeks.

Insigne will undergo medical tests today to assess his injury.
