“Let him decide his future. He is now 27, he has a rescission clause in his contract and if someone offers to pay that then he will leave.”

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly ready to offer close to the €31m needed to net him. Inter and Anzhi have also been linked.

If Lavezzi is sold then De Laurentiis would be in favour of Lorenzo Insigne, an Italian Under-21 international, returning from a successful loan spell at Pescara.

“I like Insigne because he is a team player,” the movie mogul added. “So what should we do? Call him back but not let him play because Lavezzi is there? Youngsters have to play…”

Insigne yesterday celebrated Pescara’s promotion to the top flight. His agent recently suggested that it may be better for Insigne to spend next season on loan with a Serie A club.
