The Partenopei have confirmed they wish to find a reinforcement at left-back during the January transfer window.

They had been heavily linked with Bologna's Uruguayan Miguel Angel Britos, but De Laurentiis made a surprise announcement.

“We have found a stronger defender than Britos,” smiled the President.

According to the latest rumour mill, the man in question is 24-year-old Genoa defender Criscito, who was born in Naples and would therefore be returning to his home town.

There are also suggestions that Napoli could bolster their midfield with Udinese's Swiss international Inler.

“Gokhan will certainly change club in June, but it is not out of the question that it could happen in January,” confessed agent Lamberti.

“The lad has many offers from Spain and England, but would prefer to stay in Italy.”

Inler has repeatedly been linked with the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal.
