Napoli have confirmed Gonzalo Higuain was only taken off “as a precaution” in today’s friendly.
There was concern when the Argentinian striker was taken off after just five minutes of the match against San Vito Positano after a heavy challenge.
“I’ve just come from the dressing room, where Higuain was with the doctor,” the Partenopei’s communications manager Nicola Lombardo told Mediaset.

“It’s no big deal, just a knock his right calf, he’ll be in training as normal tomorrow. He went off in the friendly as a precaution.”
It was initially thought Higuain had suffered an ankle injury, but the current Serie A top-scorer is now expected to be available to face Empoli this weekend.
