Napoli defender Kim Min-jae is having the first part of his medical with Bayern Munich, who will then activate the release clause at circa €50m.

According to Sky Sports Italia, the South Korea international is undergoing tests with the German medical staff this evening.

However, he will not be doing so in Munich, because he needs to spend the summer taking basic military training with the South Korean army, as is mandatory for all young men.

The release clause in his Napoli contract is somewhat vague, as it is tied to the revenue of the club making the purchase, so in the case of Bayern Munich would be circa €50m.

He was signed from Fenerbahce only a year ago at €18m, but became a key figure in the side that won the Serie A title.

The 26-year-old was also named Serie A Defender of the Year, contributing two goals and two assists in his 35 appearances.
