The Argentinian is considered the ideal replacement for the Partenopei after the departure of Gonzalo Higuain, but the Nerazzurri have no intention of selling their captain.
The offer so far amounts to €60m in cash, or a smaller amount which would also include the transfer of Manolo Gabbiadini. Inter would look more kindly to the former offer, and president Aurelio De Laurentiis contacted the club's agents yesterday in an effort to persuade them to accept that bid.
In the meantime, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Arsenal are also in with a shout. Apparently the Gunners are willing to offer €35m plus Olivier Giroud, but they too are crashing against the Beneamata's firm resistance.
In order to keep the player, Inter are expected to offer him a new contract worth €5m yearly, although it will only be signed after the market window is closed.
