Napoli and Udinese are in reportedly in discussions about a possible swap deal involving Mehdi Benatia and Lorenzo Insigne, according to the latter’s agent.

Both players are considered to be hot property on the transfer market. Moroccan centre-back Benatia’s form in the past 18 months has seen him recently nominated for Best Defender in Serie A at the annual Oscar del Calcio awards.

Meanwhile, attacking midfielder Insigne has pulled attention for his influential displays with Serie B side Pescara. According to the Italian Under-21 international’s agent, his parent club Napoli are in talks with Udinese about a possible swap deal for Benatia.

“The good performances from Insigne have become the norm, we are in a period where he is playing very well,” began Antonio Ottaiano in an interview with Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“The future? Benatia to Naples and Insigne to Udine? I believe that the two clubs are working on such an operation. We have an agreement with Napoli: define Lorenzo’s position here shortly.

“I do not think that only Udinese are following him, there are also other clubs and not just Italian.

“A young prospect like Lorenzo, with huge potential, means that it is obvious that he does not pass unnoticed. Again, not only Udinese are looking at Lorenzo.

“At the moment, the player must be calm and play to his best for Pescara, a club that is fighting for promotion to the top flight.

“Is he wanted in England? Absolutely yes, there are clubs ready to ask about him, because the player is ambitious. Manchester United and Arsenal? I’ll leave that up to you.”
