“It’s a deserved victory and we’d been waiting such a long time for Dzeko’s goal. I am happy for Dzeko after he broke his drought. At this moment he really needed this goal, because he was a bit down.”
The Bosnian striker hadn’t found the net since November, but in Serie A his last goal from open play was back in August.
This fourth consecutive victory puts Roma in third place awaiting the head-to-head between Fiorentina and Inter on Sunday night.
“To remain close to the leading back and fight for third place we must put together a run of victories, because everyone else is doing really well.
“Our objective for the season was always to challenge for the top spots. Right now it’s third place, then if those above us drop points it’s down to us to catch them up.”
Roma host Real Madrid in the Champions League Round of 16 on Wednesday.
