West Bromwich Albion and Lazio are in advanced talks for Vedat Muriqi with the Biancocelesti striker who is no longer following his club on social media.

The 27-year-old moved to the Stadio Olimpico in a €19m move from Fenerbache in 2020. However, his spell at Lazio has been an absolute nightmare as the Kosovo striker has failed to justify his price tag, scoring just two goals in 48 appearances.

Muriqi had been linked with a loan move to Leeds United, but according to multiple reports in Italy, English Championship side West Bromwich Albion are now in advanced talks to sign the striker on a temporary deal.

Reports in Turkey suggest the deal is done and Muriqi is already travelling to England.

However, both Calciomercato.com and transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà report the agreement has not been finalised yet as Lazio want to include an obligation to buy in the deal.

Maurizio Sarri has identified Mainz’s Jonathan Michael Burkardt as Muriqi’s ideal replacement.

Meantime, the Biancocelesti continue to monitor Hellas Verona‘s Nicolò Casale to strengthen their defence.
