The Zaire-born Belgian international has spent the last four seasons with Bologna, but in recent transfer windows has been paired with both Inter and Napoli for a potential deal.

The player himself suggested that hopes of going to the Vesuviani were gone, but the Nerazzurri have reportedly stepped up their interest and will pick up the 30-year-old for a cut-price €2m.

“His signing will come soon, Gabi will sign a contract for two or three years,” Federico Pastorello reportedly told Belgian broadcasters 7sur7 on Thursday.

“He is obviously very happy for this opportunity. In recent years, his hard work has been witnessed by all, so I believe that this transfer is merited.

“Only in Belgium is Mudingayi underestimated. I hope that this transfer may reopen the doors of the national team.”
