Former Inter Coach Claudio Ranieri says Jose Mourinho always picks fights in order to get the best out of himself and his teams.

The current Monaco boss also believes the arrival of new San Siro President Erick Thohir will help the Nerazzurri in the international market.

“Mourinho is great,” Ranieri said at a media event in Florence. “Because he must always have an adversary to motivate his team and he chooses who that is.

“During his time at Inter he even sent me inflammatory messages!”

“It’s good that Thohir has arrived as it’s important to realise that Inter need international exposure.

“His arrival is a positive thing for this to happen.”

The ‘Tinkerman’ then commented on his time at San Siro.

“When I first arrived the players had a fear of relegation,” he said.

“But then I went in and put some things right.

“Unfortunately we then had some defeats and I was sacked.

“It’s a shame because I was hoping to start a dynasty.”
