Jose Mourinho hails Walter Mazzarri and Napoli, as the former Inter Coach casts his eye over Serie A.

“The Partenopei are having a great season,” the Real Madrid manager told newspaper Il Mattino.

“In truth, I thought they'd do better in the Europa League. The team plays well, is organised, has ambition and a strong mentality. They can certainly aspire to Champions League qualification.”

“The Partenopei are having a great season,” the Real Madrid manager told newspaper Il Mattino.

“In truth, I thought they'd do better in the Europa League. The team plays well, is organised, has ambition and a strong mentality. They can certainly aspire to Champions League qualification.”

“Mazzarri and President Aurelio De Laurentiis play with passion and ambition, which is a positive aspect that then seeps through to players and fans.

“I say this knowing full well that the Napoli Coach is not fond of me, but I am honest and say he is a great Coach.

“Edinson Cavani, Marek Hamsik and Ezequiel Lavezzi are great players in an important club. The side wants to grow, not sell and for this reason I don't go looking for their players.”

Mourinho had some less than happy memories in Naples, having lost there with his Inter squad.

“It's an amazing city,” he continued. “I really liked playing at the San Paolo. I am friends with Diego Maradona and when we talk the conversation often drifts to Naples. It's a magnificent place to play football.

“I can only imagine how wonderful it would be to play Napoli-Real Madrid in the Champions League.”
