‘Mourinho has caused problems at Roma, Maitland-Niles won’t make the difference’

Former Serie A defender Daniele Adani believes José Mourinho ‘has caused some problems’ at Roma and Ainsley Maitland-Niles ‘won’t make the difference’ in the capital.

According to Italian sports papers, the English defender was one of Roma’s worst players in their 3-4 loss against Juventus on Sunday.

The Arsenal loanee arrived at the Stadio Olimpico on Friday and had only trained with his new team once before making his Serie A debut against the Bianconeri.

Mourinho accused Roma players of having a weak mentality after their loss against Juventus, but Adani believes the Special One has responsibility for the team’s results this season.

“Mourinho is right when he says that the team has personality issues, but we must say that he hasn’t handled things properly,” the former Inter and Fiorentina defender said during the Twitch show Bobo TV.

“He could have caused some problems as well with some statements and I don’t think new signings will help much.

“Maitland-Niles won’t make the difference, but I don’t think he was the main problem against Juventus.”

“I’ve followed Sergio Oliveira for ten years. He is a good player, but I don’t think he can revamp Roma,” Adani concluded.

Oliveira is expected to land in Rome in the coming days, completing an initial loan move from Porto.
