Massimo Moratti says Inter can ‘finish third, and maybe aim for something more’ this season.

The former President, who sold the club to Erick Thohir in 2013, was asked for his thoughts on the Nerazzurri following a busy transfer campaign, and two wins from their first two games.

“I think it’s a good team,” Moratti told Premium Sports.

“Now it’s up to [Coach] Roberto Mancini to put it all together. Who has impressed me? Other than the new defenders, I’d say Stevan Jovetic, and of course I’m looking forward to seeing Ivan Perisic.

“The Scudetto? There are a lot of new faces, so we’ll have to see. But there are good feelings. I think we can finish third, and maybe aim for something more.”

Mancini is in his second spell on the Beneamata bench, and Moratti admits he was good at convincing the club to spend in the Coach’s first spell under his Presidency.

“Even then he was good at convincing the President, but we were starting from a good base. Now he’s done well to convince the President [Thohir] to buy.

“Was I involved? Not this time, no…”
