Reports emerged yesterday that Nerazzurri owner Erick Thohir was looking for a new minority shareholder to replace Moratti.

However, later in the day it was suggested that Thohir wanted to sell his own shares instead.

“I have no intention of selling my shares,” Moratti said to Il Giornale.

“But at the same time, I wouldn’t have a problem doing it.

“I think it’s all in relation to the imminent arrival of Erick Thohir, but I assure you that there’s no news of any kind.

“There was and there remains an esteem and respect between us.

“There was an agreement that provided for my potential disengagement three years after Thohir’s purchase.

“That’s to say that if I wanted to, I could sell my shares but look, I’m fine as it is. Everything remains in my hands, we’ve never spoken of an obligation.

“And there’s no reason to make a decision. If this was a requirement for Thohir, I’d then take it into consideration, but we’ve always decided everything together.”
