Former Inter President Massimo Moratti hopes Mauro Icardi stays but “it depends on what the lad wants”.

The striker’s wife and agent, Wanda, was in London yesterday and reportedly met with Arsenal about a potential move, while Juventus have also been linked.

“I think a lot will depend on what the lad wants,” Moratti acknowledged in an interview with FCInterNews.

“I hope that the club will make it so that they can keep him, because he’s a great striker. So I’d keep him, but just if he’s happy to wear the Nerazzurri colours.”

Another potential departure is that of Coach Roberto Mancini, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

“He definitely has the management of the squad under control, and the situation in general. The Coach will definitely stay at Inter, he has a valid contract until 2017 and I can’t totally rule-out a renewal soon.

“I hope that all these rumours will disappear as soon as possible.”

Finally, Moratti was asked about the Beneamata’s transfer campaign, as well as their goals for the coming season.

“I think it’s normal for there to be difficulties on the transfer market, because Financial Fair Play has stalled things, but I can calmly say that this squad is of the highest level.

“It has huge potential and is extremely reliable, there’s no doubt about that.

“Our aims? Certainly the Champions League. Inter’s calling is to be in the top three, that will be the goal.”
