“Stramaccioni stays on because it’s a question of rapport and faith, plus understanding what the situation is,” Moratti told Sky Sport Italia.

“At times there are problems tied only to the Coach and others they are not, so it would be an injustice to punish him for something that isn’t his fault.”

The injury crisis has also partly been blamed on starting the season in August for Europa League preliminary rounds.

This has prompted some to suggest Inter would do well to stay out of Europe altogether next season so they can focus on rebuilding.

“There’s nothing to suggest a similar campaign would emerge. Not going into Europe means continuing to lose, whereas I hope there is the chance to take the points still at our disposal.”
