Massimo Moratti is convinced that he will see Javier Zanetti represent Inter again on the field of play.

The almost 40-year-old captain is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after he ruptured his Achilles tendon at Palermo on Sunday.

“It's very sad and I feel really bad for him,” President Moratti stated on Tuesday morning about the man who was his first signing back in 1995. “He knows that.

“I spoke to him straight after the injury happened. But with his character he'll be back, there is no doubt about it.

“The fans can't think they won't see him again. They will and he will be back playing his best.”

The Argentine veteran, who will be operated on later today, is expected to be out for at least six months.
