Former Inter President Massimo Moratti believes Frank de Boer’s “situation is difficult” but “I’m only speaking as a fan”.

The ex-patron sold the Nerazzurri to Erick Thohir in 2013, before relinquishing all shares when the Suning Group took over this summer.

The 71-year-old has been linked with a return in some capacity, and while he has denied this he’s still a powerful voice when it comes to the Beneamata.

“It’s definitely a bit of a complicated situation, but it’s certainly not one for me to untangle,” Moratti told Rai.

“Whether the Coach is in trouble or not, whatever happens he has to express himself with the team.

“Where previously it could be said that he hasn’t had time to achieve certain results, yesterday there was definitely a negative first half in which he didn’t set us up to win.

“The situation is difficult, but I’m still only speaking as a fan, nothing more.”
