Lazio will be without goalkeeper Federico Marchetti for up to a month after he injured himself celebrating a goal.

The Italian international suffered a hamstring injury while celebrating Alessandro Matri’s goal against Sampdoria last night, and had to be taken off.

To add insult to injury for the Biancocelesti, his replacement Etrit Berisha rushed out of his box and conceded the free-kick which led to Samp’s last-minute equaliser.

“Marchetti has a muscular injury,” team doctor Stefano Salvatori told Lazio Style Radio.

“He has a suspected strain of the first or second degree in the hamstring of his left thigh. We’ll determine the severity of the injury with other tests.

“It’s likely that he won’t be available against Udinese and Inter, then we’ll see what the recovery time is.A first degree strain would usually require around three weeks on the sidelines, while a second degree injury would require up to six weeks.

Lazio face Inter at the weekend, before returning from the winter break to face Carpi on January 6.
