Vincenzo Montella has played down the possibility of replacing Cesare Prandelli as Italy Coach: “Really I believe it is too early.”

Prandelli is strongly believed to be aiming for a return to club football at the end of his Azzurro contract after this summer’s World Cup and speculation is on who might be in line to replace him.

Montella, for his work with Fiorentina” data-scaytid=”10″>Fiorentina, has been suggested, but the man himself sees otherwise.

“Really I believe that it is too early,” the 39-year-old has commented to reporters this week.

“But I also say so because it is not a secondary project that we are carrying out [at Fiorentina] in signing a long contract.

“But, even if I was out of contract, I am still too young, whilst around me there are highly qualified technicians who are able to do well.”

Montella, however, did offer an opinion on one particular player he would take to this summer’s World Cup if he was CT.

“For his energy that would be new, Ciro Immobile may have the characteristics that would work with the national team.”
