Today Viola patron Andrea Della Valle warned “there is a clause and it will be respected. My directors will meet his agent and all of us will use common sense.”

According to Tuttomercatoweb and Alfredo Pedullà of SportItalia, Fiorentina are prepared to accept €3m rather than the full €5m clause.

At the moment they are not discussing players as part of an exchange deal to release the tactician, despite other reports of an option on Roberto Soriano.

Sampdoria sacked Walter Zenga today and Montella – a former Blucerchiati player – is the hot favourite to take over.
