“At the moment their position in the Premier League [7th] doesn’t reflect the true value of this team, which is very technically gifted.

“We must also take into account that whether they’ll take advantage of the January market to add to an already strong team with a midfield of absolute quality.

“Having said that, I know my players, and I know they’ll do their best as always.

“We know how difficult it is to play in English stadiums, the crowd are always very, very passionate, but after that we’ll play at [Artemio] Franchi and our fans can help us.

The former striker also discussed the fortunes of the other Italian sides, and believes that the teams must do well to improve Serie A’s UEFA coefficient.

“When you play in the Europa League eventually the strong teams will face each other.

“Perhaps the Italian teams could have been more fortunate, but we’ll go out and play.

“If you get to the Last 16, sooner or later you’ll have to play one of the five Italian teams and one of us will get knocked out.

“However, we all have to do everything we can to move progress because it has the effect of improving the ranking of Italian football.”
