“Verona are bottom of the table but they’re of a good level,” Montella insisted in his pre-match Press conference.

“The table doesn’t reflect their quality, so we have to be careful. It’s a very delicate game, we’re facing the team in last place, but we have to win and not show the wrong attitude.

“The attitude we had against Frosinone is the right one. I think this is a similar game to against Carpi, but Verona have superior quality.

“It’s a delicate game, there’s the chance to live or die and I say that with a smile.”

Montella was then asked about Antonio Cassano, who did not feature in last weekend’s 2-0 win over Frosinone.

“If we talk about him a lot then there’s a reason. He’s conducted himself very well, I think he’s a player who can change the fortunes of a team with his attitude on the pitch.

“He has to have the approach he did against Lazio, where he worked like never before and I think it was that which allowed the team to equalise.

“From the Coach’s point of view, you obviously make changes in the second half and it can seem obnoxious to send a player to warm-up without putting him on.

“Obviously I’m sorry Cassano didn’t come on on Sunday, but a Coach has to evaluate a lot of things.

“We always talk about Antonio like he’s different, but every player is different and a Coach has to know how to manage different personalities.

“We’re all different.”
